Hold Thumbs, cross fingers...

I have a job interview next week!

Day 2 - Tjobbes Couch, Banbury, October 26th

Rise and Shine!
wow, what a night...
Was the last, and I mean LAST person to get my luggage last night, waited about 40 minutes for it all...
Thing is, I checked one bag in Chicago, and the other at the gate as I was boarding in Dublin, yet, they still came off together... Odd....
but anyway, after that, took a rather long (we got lost) and eventful (got lost again) drive to Banbury and met up with the Wilkinson family. (Insert cup of tea #1 here) Had Chinese (nothing like some good American food to make you feel at home!) and spent most of the evening being stared at my my non-blinking 2 year old cousin... Creepy!
Got to Tjobbe at around 9pm (insert cup of tea #2) and chatted for a while about plans, phones, where to sleep, and where beer is kept!
Nice to have a place to rest my wee head, even if it is a sleeper couch, it was more comfortable than any airport lounge chair or plane seat. And having my quilt from when I was a little girl sent over by Unkle Terry and my Max bear (complete with authentic 'Max' smell) really helped...
Slept like a log and only woke up when Tjobbe came through this morning to go to work. (tea#3)
Plans for the day, get a job, have more tea (4,5,6), and talk to Max.
Hopefully going to UT tonight :)

Day one, October 25, Dublin Airport, Ireland

What a mix up of emotions. Feeling many, many things right now, other than heartache, I have ugly nausea and a splitting headache.
The flight was hell, even though I was moved to a row all by myself, I still could not relax. Ended up being sick twice - joy! Couldn't eat dinner, had tomato sauce (pasta sauce) on both options - "chicken or beef?!" - so I ate the rice, the bread and butter and the cheese and crackers. Nibbled at the 'cheesecake' and then tried to sleep - unsuccessfully, might have managed a couple of hours, but not without constant waking and getting very uncomfortable, it was SO cold on that plane, wow!
Breakfast - a croissant with ham and cheese, no sooner smelt it than had to make a rather fast and unfortunate dash to the loo, ugh - again...
we arrived early in Dublin, around 6:30am, and I tried to change my ticket to an earlier flight, but it would have cost me 100 Euros - Uhm, no!
So, right now, I am sitting at Dublin airport, and I have another 5 hours (out of a total of 9!) left before I fly off, so, just under 4 hours before we start getting boarding calls...
Going to carry on reading 'Prayers for Owen Meany', thanks Max...

Friday, October 23 -T - 25 hours

Ugh, the final hours...
Still not packed, not looking forward to this...
Have been at home all day trying to pack, but it is so depressing, and I think I might just cry!
The week has been interesting, had some good games of squash, had dinner with Max at the Rain Forrest Cafe and Wilde, hopefully going out for drinks tonight. Would be nice to get ridiculously ratfaced tonight!
I have also realised that the main contributor to my overweight baggage issue, is the suitcase itself, I'm starting to think its made of lead.. uhm, so, might be taking my clothes in a garbage bag at this rate.
Anyway, must get bak to packing, then, cleaning and onto dinner - The Last Supper - cringe!

The beginning of my adventure

Friday, October 16 - 8 days to go

Its 8:14 am Friday, waiting for Max to get home so that I can have a decent conversation with him for the first time this week... he should be back by 8 tonight....
He's been away since Wednesday and I am bored to pieces, so much so that i have cleaned the apartment from top to bottom, proud of myself? I should think so, looks like new!

The plan so far is this
I leave on the 24th from O'Hare, fly into Dublin and sit for a very jolly 9 hours - unless I can get an earlier flight.
Arrive int he UK around 5pm I think - an then off to see family etc.
I know that I still need to confirm employment with a family, but I am worried they are not for real, so also signing up with an agency, have to work on my CV today actually... whoops!

I cant wait to see all of my cousins, nan, aunts uncles, friends and of course, The Godfather!! :)
The next 6 months are going to be somewhat of an adventure, and I hope they fly by at a somewhat alarming rate, yet still leave me feeling like I got everything out of it that I could...

Step one

Right now, I am still in the US
Plane ticket booked for the 24th.... only 7 days left with Max...
but only 6 months before I come back..
I wonder what I can get up to during that time, what adventures I will find, and what mischief I will get into....
